ALA Girls Nation

**ALA Girls Nation**, a program of the American Legion Auxiliary, brings together outstanding delegates from **ALA Girls State** programs across the country for a week-long, immersive experience in Washington, D.C. Participants serve as “senators” in a **mock U.S. Senate**, drafting and debating bills, building coalitions, and learning how federal legislation is shaped. The program also includes opportunities to meet and engage with **elected officials, policy professionals, and civic leaders**, offering a close look at how national decisions are made. This program is well suited for students who are: - Strong performers in their state-level **Girls State** program - Interested in **government, public policy, law, or leadership** - Ready to collaborate, debate respectfully, and think critically about complex issues ALA Girls Nation can be a meaningful asset on **college and scholarship applications**, demonstrating sustained civic engagement, selective participation, and advanced leadership experience.
