Deutsche Neurowissenschaften-Olympiade

The Deutsche Neurowissenschaften-Olympiade (DNO) is the official German branch of the International Brain Bee, a neuroscience competition for high school students interested in the brain and nervous system. Held annually at regional and national levels in Germany, the DNO tests students on topics such as brain anatomy, neural communication, neurological and psychiatric diseases, and current neuroscience research. The competition is open to secondary school students in Germany, typically in the upper grades who can work with English‑language study material (the main resource is the book *Brain Facts* from the Society for Neuroscience). Participants first compete in regional rounds; top performers qualify for the national final, and the national winner goes on to represent Germany at the International Brain Bee. In addition to the competition itself, students benefit from exposure to neuroscience researchers, lab tours or talks (depending on the host site), and insight into potential study and career paths in neuroscience and related fields.
