European Bat Night Outreach Events

European Bat Night is an annual Europe‑wide outreach event held in late summer, coordinated by **BatLife Europe** and the **Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats (EUROBATS)**. On this night (or over a weekend), bat conservation groups, nature reserves, museums, and local clubs in dozens of countries organize public activities such as evening bat walks with detectors, talks by bat experts, children’s workshops, and demonstrations about bat research and conservation. While European Bat Night is **not a formal competition**, it is a structured public‑engagement program that high school students can join as participants or volunteers. Students in grades 9–12 can attend local events to learn about bat biology, acoustic monitoring, and conservation issues, or support a local bat group with outreach, data collection, or event logistics.
