Kathmandu Debates Championship

Kathmandu Debates is an annual international debate championship for high school students, hosted in Kathmandu, Nepal. The tournament typically follows the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) style, bringing together teams from schools and debate societies across Nepal and other countries in the region. Events usually include multiple preliminary rounds, elimination rounds, and workshops or adjudicator training led by experienced debaters. The competition is generally aimed at secondary school students (roughly grades 9–12 or equivalent), with teams representing their schools or debate clubs. Participants gain experience in structured argumentation, public speaking, critical thinking, and collaboration in a competitive but educational environment.
