Korean Chemistry Olympiad for Students

The Korean Chemistry Olympiad (KChO) is a national program and competition organized by the Korean Chemical Society to identify, train, and support talented secondary school students in chemistry. It serves both as an advanced enrichment program and as the official pathway for selecting Korea’s team for the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). The Olympiad is open to secondary students in Korea (typically high school age) with strong interest and ability in chemistry. After written selection exams, top students are invited to intensive training camps covering advanced topics in physical, organic, inorganic, and analytical chemistry, as well as problem‑solving techniques. Participants gain deep theoretical knowledge, exposure to laboratory concepts (through training materials and camps), and a competitive edge for future STEM studies, while the very top performers represent Korea at the IChO.
