Micromouse Robotics Maze Competition

Micromouse is a classic robotics and engineering competition where participants design, build, and program a small autonomous robot (the “mouse”) to navigate and solve a 16×16 maze in the shortest possible time. The challenge emphasizes embedded systems, sensor integration, control theory, and algorithm design (such as maze-solving and path-optimization algorithms). Micromouse events are organized worldwide, frequently under the IEEE student activities umbrella and at university-hosted regional contests in North America, Europe, and Asia. While it originated as a university-level competition, many events and workshops now welcome advanced high school students or school teams, especially those with prior robotics or programming experience. Participants gain hands-on experience in electronics, mechanics, and coding, as well as exposure to a global community of hobbyists and engineers.
