National Science Bowl High School Competition

The National Science Bowl (NSB) is a nationwide academic competition organized by the U.S. Department of Energy that tests students’ knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space science, energy, and math. High school teams, typically consisting of four students, an alternate, and a coach, compete in fast-paced, buzzer-style quiz rounds at regional events held across the United States. Winners of regional high school tournaments advance to the National Finals in Washington, D.C., where they compete against top teams from across the country and participate in additional science and engineering activities. The competition is open to U.S. high school students, and it offers participants a chance to deepen their STEM knowledge, build teamwork and quick-recall skills, and connect with peers and professionals in scientific fields.
