Science Picnic Student Competition

The **Science Picnic** (Polish: *Piknik Naukowy*) in Warsaw is one of Europe’s largest outdoor science festivals, jointly organized by Polish Radio and the Copernicus Science Centre. Each year, universities, research institutes, science clubs, and school teams set up interactive booths and demonstrations for tens of thousands of visitors. While not a traditional exam-style contest, school and youth teams are selected competitively based on the quality and originality of their proposed exhibits and activities. High school students (typically ages 14–19) can take part as members of school science clubs or group projects under the supervision of a teacher or mentor. Participation offers hands-on experience in designing experiments, communicating science to the public, and collaborating as a team in a large, professional-grade event. The Science Picnic is free to attend; costs for exhibiting are generally limited to materials and travel, making it an accessible opportunity to develop scientific communication and project skills.
