Summer Cancer Research Experience Program

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s **Summer Cancer Research Experience Program** is an intensive, paid, 8-week research internship for high school students in Western New York. Participants are paired with Roswell Park scientists and clinicians and work in active cancer research laboratories, gaining exposure to areas such as molecular biology, immunology, genetics, biostatistics, and population sciences. Students learn experimental techniques, data analysis, and how research contributes to cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The program is designed for **rising high school juniors and seniors** (current 10th–11th graders) who attend school in the Western New York region and are at least 15 years old by the program start date. Students are expected to commit to a full-time, weekday schedule for the entire 8 weeks. In addition to hands-on lab work, the experience typically includes seminars, career talks, and a culminating presentation where students share their projects. Participants receive a stipend, build strong STEM credentials, and gain firsthand exposure to careers in cancer research and medicine.
