Grzegorz Fitelberg International Conducting Competition

The Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors is a major orchestral conducting competition held in Katowice, Poland. Named after renowned Polish conductor Grzegorz Fitelberg, it is organized by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) and typically takes place every five years. The competition attracts young professional conductors from around the world and is recognized as one of the leading conducting contests in Europe. Participation is aimed at emerging conductors at the start of their professional careers, not at high school level; applicants are usually in their 20s–30s with formal conservatory or university training in conducting. Winners and laureates receive cash prizes, opportunities to conduct professional orchestras, and significant international exposure that can launch or accelerate a conducting career. While it is an excellent event for high school students to follow or attend as observers, it is not designed as a high school competition.
